JOB SUMMARY
The Diesel Service Technician is responsible for the In-Shop floor technical assistance for mechanics, repairs and service/maintenance as directed by the Service Foreman.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Perform service and maintenance on all makes and models of heavy-duty trucks
•
Use of OEM diagnostic software to perform repairs in line with dealer and manufacturer specifications
•
Perform heavy-duty engine swings, transmission replacements, air brake services and chassis repairs
•
In-depth repair of engine and transmission-related components (Training provided!)
•
In-frame overhaul of heavy-duty engines to include gear train inspection, cylinder head replacement, piston and connecting rod replacement and main bearing replacement to factory specifications
•
Rebuilding of Allison transmissions in dedicated overhaul area
•
Operation of state-of-the-art engine, transmission and chassis dynos to aid in diagnostics and ensure correct operation following repairs
•
Clock on to work orders
•
Repair various components of on-highway vehicles
•
Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists.
•
Troubleshoot and Diagnose
•
Inspect, operate and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities and conformance to customer specifications
•
Performs repairs as directed by the Service Foreman
•
Complete all timekeeping requirements to track labor in jobs
•
Complete all paperwork necessary to perform repairs as directed
•
Other responsibilities as designated by and at the discretion of management

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
•
High School Diploma or GED required. A technical school certificate in related field such as Automotive/Diesel Technology, or Welding/Fabrication preferred
•
A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in manual fabrication from blueprint specifications. Must have experience using both standard and metric measures
•
A good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
•
Strong diagnostic skills
•
Ability to consistently repair components and equipment in line with dealer and manufacturers, flat-rate time standards
•
Strong mechanical skills
•
Good verbal and written communications skills
•
Commitment to maintaining an orderly and safe working environment
WORK CONDITIONS
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
