At Avivo Village, we offer an alternative to encampments through private shelter units, compassionate staff support, and meaningful connections to housing and health services. Your Role As a Resident Advocate, you’ll be at the heart of our shelter community—providing direct support, ensuring safety, and creating a welcoming environment for our residents. You’ll monitor wellness, de-escalate crises, distribute meals and harm reduction supplies, and contribute to the upkeep and integrity of the Village. You’ll play a vital part in creating a space where dignity, healing, and hope thrive. Key Responsibilities Include • Engage residents with daily support, activities, and wellness checks. • Respond to crises with compassion—administering Narcan, calling emergency services, and using trauma-informed approaches. • Monitor the safety and cleanliness of rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. • Provide meals and uphold food safety standards. • Support residents through transitions—whether discharging, moving in, or receiving care. • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and clean facility—inside and out. • Uphold the values of Absolute Dignity, Leaning into Curiosity, and Radical Welcome in every interaction. Schedule • Must be available for the following day shifts: Sunday - Wednesday days from 6:00am - 2:30pm. Some shifts may be eligible for a shift differential. Qualifications What You Offer • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; coursework in health or human services is preferred. • Two years of experience supporting individuals with long-term homelessness, mental health needs, or substance use challenges. • Lived experience is recognized and valued. • A deep commitment to harm reduction, housing-first, and inclusive care models. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. • Ability to de-escalate conflict and remain calm under pressure. • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
